EPA secures $28.6m to protect coastal communities

The Executive Director of the Environment Protection Agency (EPA), Dr. Abu-Bakar S. Massaquoi, says that the agency has obtained a $28.6 million grant from the Green Climate Fund.
This funding, according to him, will support interventions in 75 coastal communities at risk of climate-related displacement.
Dr. Massaquoi stressed the need for long-term climate planning and local capacity-building, while clarifying the distinction between short-term weather patterns and long-term climate trends.
Dr. Massaquoi made these disclosures at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education annual weekly press briefing on Tuesday in Freetown.30-05-2025
